Sua presen\u00e7a em \u00e1guas superficiais e residu\u00e1rias gera efeitos nocivos j\u00e1 comprovados em esp\u00e9cies de peixes, por\u00e9m estudos sobre efeitos causados em seres humanos ainda s\u00e3o controversos. Entre os IEs, est\u00e1 o 17\u03b1-etinilestradiol (EE2), horm\u00f4nio sint\u00e9tico utilizado em p\u00edlulas anticoncepcionais e tratamentos de reposi\u00e7\u00e3o hormonal. Neste trabalho foi avaliada a remo\u00e7\u00e3o do EE2 em \u00e1gua preparada para estudo utilizando tratamento convencional (TC), TC com adi\u00e7\u00e3o de carv\u00e3o ativado em p\u00f3 (TC + CAP) e TC com posterior etapa de fotocat\u00e1lise heterog\u00eanea utilizando TiO2 (TC + TiO2). Os ensaios foram realizados em equipamento de jarteste, com sulfato de alum\u00ednio como coagulante. A \u00e1gua de estudo foi preparada adicionando-se caulinita para elevar a turbidez at\u00e9 100 \u00b1 10 uT e EE2 (Sigma-Aldrich\u00ae) at\u00e9 concentra\u00e7\u00e3o final de 40 mg L-1. O TC foi constitu\u00eddo de coagula\u00e7\u00e3o com dosagem de sulfato de alum\u00ednio de 12 mg L-1 seguida de flocula\u00e7\u00e3o, sedimenta\u00e7\u00e3o e filtra\u00e7\u00e3o. O TC + CA diferenciou-se pela adi\u00e7\u00e3o de carv\u00e3o ativado em p\u00f3 nas concentra\u00e7\u00f5es de 5 mg L-1 e 7,5 mg L-1 antes da etapa de coagula\u00e7\u00e3o. O TC + TiO2 foi realizado com 1 L de amostra ap\u00f3s TC, a qual foi armazenada e efetuada a etapa de fotocat\u00e1lise heterog\u00eanea. O TC apresentou remo\u00e7\u00e3o de EE2, na ordem de 41,8% e 44,3%. O TC + CAP apresentou melhor efici\u00eancia de remo\u00e7\u00e3o do EE2 (59,6% e 62,3%), e sua porcentagem de remo\u00e7\u00e3o aumentou com aumento da concentra\u00e7\u00e3o de carv\u00e3o ativado em p\u00f3.
