Social constructivism – a learning theory in an English classroom.
“In this workshop we are going to have the opportunity to discuss the theory of social constructivism by Lev Vygostki and how we can manage it in an English teaching classroom. One of the key concepts of socioconstructivist learning theories is the ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development), developed by Vygotsky. In a simplified way, the ZPD is the distance between the actual level of development, determined by the ability to solve a problem without help, and the level of potential development, determined by solving a problem under the guidance of an adult or in collaboration with more developed peers in a given area of knowledge. The purpose of this workshop is to involve participants to reflect upon the contents of Vygotski’s theory using the collaborative approach.”
